Do Not Leave Yeast Infections Alone When They Come Back

Monday, September 12th, 2011

Most people don’t even know what a yeast infection is or what it does to the body, so why would it be high on anyone’s priority list. Most people are not too concerned because they consider it a disease only for women. Working to prevent them in the future will save you many years of discomfort and feeling badly. Antibiotics kill bacteria, not only the bad, but also the good, so the bacteria that keeps yeast away is destroyed by the antibiotic, thus allowing yeast to spread wildly. Personal habits can not only cause Candida in the first place, but allow it to keep coming back, so investigation is important. Knowledge of any disease is important for prevention as well as healing, and that goes for yeast infections also.

The Candida albicans yeast cells in your body react to different chemicals as well as to changing conditions. Your hormones are one of the chemicals that can affect the action of the yeast cells. Mostly this applies to women, their normal hormonal composition as well as hormone products they take. When a woman’s hormones are changing and fluctuating, this is when problems can develop. Hormones tend to fluctuate during pregnancy and it is common knowledge that pregnant women tend to be susceptible to yeast infections. Contraceptive pills, which contain hormones, can be a problem also.

There are external influences that are known to trigger various types of allergic reactions as well as yeast infection. The chemicals used in perfumes and dyes used in clothing can cause this kind of reaction and the resultant infection condition. Perhaps you have seen the commercials on TV for douches?

Actually, they are really not all that healthy and ultimately can easily cause a yeast infection. Even though we suspect that not every single woman who uses them develop the condition. We simply do not know this, plus we generally tend to doubt it produces this unintended result in all users. But the basic effect is to kill bacteria within the vagina, and it is that very bacteria that helps prevent yeast infections from forming in the first place.

One area and concern that contributes to maintaining normal and low levels of yeast cells in the body is the state of your immune system. It is known that people with HIV and other conditions that effect the immune system have problems with yeast infections. It may be helpful for you to take note of your personal habits such as frequent loss of sleep and other situations that will serve to depress your immune system. If you have been sick for a period of time along with other factors that put a severe strain on your immune system, then learn the symptoms of yeast infections so you can recognize it.

The various causes of yeast infections can make for a challenging situation especially if you have repeated infections. Your best bet of course is to always talk to your doctor even the first time it occurs. If you are given prescription medicine that contains hormones or forms of them such as steroids, then be very sure you mention something about possible yeast infections as a side effect.
